We work collaboratively with University partners to provide undergraduate students key resources to enhance their academic progress.
Experience and research have shown that students who participate in academic mentoring increase their chances of succeeding in college and beyond. We offer academic mentoring programs that facilitate students’ transition into the University, support their intellectual growth and maturity, and prepare them for post-graduation academic and professional experiences. Our services are designed to mentor students, to help them develop the life-long skill of “learning how to learn,” to facilitate their ability to excel in their coursework, and to stimulate their independent thinking through persistent coaching. Our services, in effect, extend academic learning outside of the classroom and challenge students to develop the necessary skills to achieve academic success.
Several core principles guide our approach to providing academic support services:
- We are a partner with curricular departments and/or course instructors.
- We primarily utilize talented and well-trained undergraduate students representing over 50 academic majors to provide services. Mentors have a minimum grade of A- in the course they mentor and a minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 3.0.
- We provide services in locations, at times, and in formats that are convenient for students.
- We rigorously evaluate services for effectiveness and student satisfaction.
