To support students with disabilities by fostering and facilitating an equal access environment for the WashU community of learners.

Students with disabilities have the opportunity to realize their full academic and personal potential.

Welcome to Disability Resources

Welcome to Disability Resources (DR), Washington University’s official resource for students with disabilities and students with suspected disabilities. DR assists students with disabilities by providing guidance and accommodations to ensure equal access to our campus, both physically and academically.

Some students come to college with a history of having received accommodations for a disability. Other students may not be diagnosed until after high school or find that their disability creates a need for accommodations until they are in college. Regardless, the University makes every effort to ensure that all students can take full advantage of the courses, programs, activities, and opportunities that our University offers. If you are a prospective student with a disability and would like to learn more about the accommodations and services we might provide you here at WU, please contact us. We welcome opportunities to talk and/or meet with prospective students and their families who are involved in the college search process.

Students seeking disability-related accommodations must use the DR office and are encouraged to contact us upon admission or once diagnosed. In contrast to high school students, college and graduate students are expected to self-identify and to request accommodations by notifying the appropriate office (DR). Eligibility for accommodations is determined on an individual basis supported by appropriate documentation, which may need to be renewed periodically. We will guide you through each step of this process, whether you are a prospective student, undergraduate, or graduate student here at WU. Students with temporarily disabling conditions (e.g., a broken arm) may either contact DR or Habif Health and Wellness Center (314-935-6666) for assistance.

In addition to working with students, the DR staff is here to assist University faculty and staff members who have questions about students with disabilities. We view ourselves as active partners with our WU colleagues and welcome your calls, emails, or office visits, too.

Please select the appropriate page for more information about how we can assist you. We look forward to hearing from you, answering your questions, and providing information that will enhance your experience at Washington University.
